.drp is DaVinci Resolve's native format - exactly what DaVinci uses internally. It preserves adjustment layers, track names and locks, timeline and clip markers with their notes, compound clips, retime/speed change, fades and transitions, Text+ titles, multichannel audio routing, your bin hierarchy, and the 1:1 track layout. .fcpxml is the industry-standard interchange format - also works with DaVinci, but through a translation layer that can drop a few details (notably native track locks). Timelines, video and audio clips, transitions and fades, transform effects (position, scale, rotation), opacity, playback speed (retime), titles, nested sequences (compound clips), markers and volume levels are preserved. The .drp format additionally preserves: track names, native DaVinci adjustment layers, track locks, timeline and clip markers with their notes, the transition type (dip to black, push, slide, wipe), five blend modes, multichannel audio routing and your media pool bin hierarchy. Volume keyframes travel in FCPXML and XML; in the .drp each clip keeps one fixed level.

Yes. When one wav carries several mics (Mix, boom, lavaliers...), Premiere stacks one clip per mic - and the .drp keeps that routing: each clip is assigned its exact source channel, so every track plays the right mic in DaVinci (tested up to 12 channels per file). One honest limit: mic names like "Boom 1" live in the wav's iXML metadata, which the .prproj does not contain, so no converter can recover them without the media. To keep the mics tellable apart, every clip is suffixed with the channel it plays (" - Ch 3"), and the exact selection shows in DaVinci's Audio Channel menu.

Yes, old projects included. PR2XML reads the modern .prproj format as well as the older uncompressed format written by Premiere Pro® versions from before CS4, which recent releases of Premiere Pro® often refuse to open. You do not need Premiere Pro® installed, and there is no need to re-save the project first. Only .ppj files from Adobe Premiere 6.5 and earlier are out of scope, as that is a different format predating .prproj.

Some Premiere Pro-specific effects (third-party plugins, certain complex native effects) don't have a direct equivalent in DaVinci Resolve. In that case, the timeline structure is preserved and unsupported effects are skipped, allowing you to recreate them manually in Resolve. They are listed after the analysis, and an option drops a "Not transferred" marker at the head of each clip concerned.
